How often should you be updating your personal branding imagery?

Your personal brand is the first impression people get of you when they meet you. It's how they perceive your strengths and weaknesses, what they think of you and how they feel about the interactions they have with you.

The way to grow your personal brand is by creating a consistent imagery that aligns with your goals and values. You do this by consistently developing content that can be shared across social media platforms and other media channels.

The frequency with which you should update your imagery depends on your industry. If you're in the fashion or beauty industry, where the latest runway trends and seasonal color palettes are imperative to keep up with, you'll need to update more frequently. However, if you're an accountant, dentist or lawyer, it would make sense to wait until some key events in your business are coming up before updating your profile photos or profile video. Most often, it is recommended that imagery is updated or added to your inventory every quarter. What should I wear or bring to my headshot or personal branding session?

Your personal brand is the first impression people get of you when they meet you. The way to grow your personal brand is by creating a consistent imagery that aligns with your mission. You do this by consistently developing content that can be shared across social media platforms and other media channels. For this reason, clothing and accessories need to be carefully considered for your personal branding session. Here are some things to consider:

  1. The fit of your clothing. It is important to wear/bring clothing that compliments your shape, that avoids busy patterns and refraining from large sleeves will also be beneficial.

  2. Color cohesiveness. Use your brand color palette to focus your photoshoot. Bring at least five outfits that fit your color scheme, and props that do too. A few prop examples: books, binders, calendars, pens and jewelry.

  3. Jewelry. Jewelry is highly recommended as it compliments outfits so well. Bring a few pieces that will elevate the five outfits you bring.
